Hiked the windy trail and down on a lovely clear day and it was lovely and peaceful. Tough on the steep parts for me personally but I completed it just at a slower pace. Enjoyed close interactions with Snow buntings at the summit and heard and got a glimpse of some rock ptarmigan. Clean toilets at the bottom and cafe at the top and bottom but did not try that out. For a nice pub drink after the hike check out the boat nearby.

Amazing views and scenery, perfect for walks. Was glad to see the funicular reopen this year but unfortunately it’s not how it use to be. It’s £17 (reduced from £22) for a return ticket but you’re not allowed to access the mountain, you can only go to the cafe and viewing point. Apparently it’s to protect the environment, which I’d could understand if the mountain wasn’t already full of hikers who haven’t used the funicular. You also can’t take dogs up in the funicular but you can bring them down in the funicular. You’re basically paying £17 to visit a cafe on a mountain.

The location was stunning; we went there to climb the mountain, but unfortunately, we were hit by an avalanche, so our climb ended earlier than expected all safe and healing well. We hope to return oneday and try again, or perhaps try snowboarding instead.

We dragged ourselves up to the mountain from our cozy rental in Aviemore on a rainy, windy, no snow, Thursday not expecting too much but we were very surprised. All of the staff members we met were super friendly and were joking around with the kids. Staff on reception, rentals, returns, on lifts and in the cafe all went well above and beyond the level of customer service that we were expecting. Charlie was absolutely amazing on rentals having a laugh with the kids and making sure everyone was suited and booted. This put the kids at ease and set us up for a great afternoon session. As for the slopes there were two lengths of magic carpet in operation at the time and a cute little slope to ski down. Perfect for the kids who have just graduated from our local snow dome. A lovely place to visit, we will certainly be back - Thank you to all staff for making our afternoon such good fun...

Great place for caravans, motorhome and camping. Loads.of hiking trails nearby. Near to cairngorm mountain.
